How long does your program run?

We run our program based on the regular school year, September through May.  We do not offer half-year programs (with the exception of our pre-school classes and seasonal workshops) because we’ve found that it is not enough time for students to grasp and develop the skills that are asked of them.

How do you know what class to put my child in?

We’ll explore who your child is with you, determine their interest, and select a class that might be most appropriate for their character.

Is class placement based on years of experience?

Typically placement is based on a combination of factors including age and skill level, but not necessarily years of experience.  Our foundation for studies are based on classes that offer a wide array of levels from beginner to advanced, and everything in-between.  Our focus is for your child to learn and grow within their current skill level, and then continue to enjoy and improve upon those skills, regardless of what class they are in.

How long can my child expect to remain in a certain level?

In general, a child should expect to remain at a particular level for at least two years.  This is the average length of time it takes to apply technique in a manner that demonstrates a clear understanding. At the end each year children receive an evaluation from their teacher to determine what the next steps of their studies will be. Of course, if you have questions regarding your child’s performance throughout the year, we’re here to give you feedback anytime.
